Bad Matrix was originally formed in late 1988 (under the name ‘Bad Attitude’ in those days) as a Hard Rock, Commercial, AOR recording project. After much interest from the UK arm of Warner-Chappell in 1990, they requested the formation of a full band to perform live and record more songs for them. Interest from Warner-Chappell remained high throughout this process with songs delivered, however the recession bit deep in the UK and a meeting was called whereby Warner-Chappell informed of their decision to massively reduce their new band roster which included us. As a result, after a handful of warm-up public performances, the band disbanded in 1992.
Fast forward to 2023 when Lorenzo Sanz of Top Artist Promotion and Jacqui Sas (wife of guitarist Rob) finally convinced Rob to re-record and reinvent the songs now, with a view to reigniting the project. Rob once again assembled some high calibre musicians to be included into this project. Rob who himself has worked with a long list of big name musicians, teamed up with his long-time friend, bassist Phil Crombie of international tribute band Deeper Purple, immediately followed by former Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow and Yngwie Malmsteen keyboard player Paul Morris, followed by UK based drummer Paul Mallyon who Rob had worked with in the past. The final person invited into the project was Polish vocalist Peter Zaleski who has an impressive CV with many album releases under his belt.
With a collection of nine songs re-recorded using today’s computer technology, a new breath of life has been injected into these catchy 1980’s and 1990’s styled songs making them as relevant today as they day they were originally recorded. In January 2025 Bad Attitude changed its name to Bad Matrix, to give itself a more unique identity and to avoid confusion with other bands using the old name.
